BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - With the start of preseason camp just 13 days away, College Soccer News has announced its preseason top-30 rankings and preseason All-America squads, both of which feature Indiana.
As a team the Hoosier men are No. 21 in the preseason poll. Five of the seven Big Ten teams are ranked, led by defending conference champion Ohio State at No. 10. Penn State comes in at No. 16, with Northwestern No. 18 and Michigan State No. 19.
Indiana is coming off a 12-10-1 season where it advanced to the third round of the NCAA Tournament.
Junior forward Will Bruin was named to the website's preseason All-America third team and looks to build upon last year's performance where he led the team in goals (9), shots (93) and game-winning goals (5). Bruin earned first-team All-Big Ten honors last season and was the Big Ten Freshman of the Year in 2008.
Indiana opens preseason camp on Aug. 18 and will face Xavier in an exhibition match on Aug. 22 at 7:30 p.m. ET on Jerry Yeagley Field at Bill Armstrong Stadium. The following weekend the Hoosiers will take part in ShinDigz National Soccer Festival Soccerpalooza in Ft. Wayne, Ind., Aug. 27 and 29. This year's festival features all seven Big Ten teams, with Indiana taking on Duke on Aug. 27 (7:30 p.m.) and Denver on Aug. 29 (noon).
