SUNDAY IS FUNDAY
• Perhaps head coach Todd Yeagley should look into rearranging the schedule to make all games Sunday affairs as Indiana is 2-0 when playing on Sunday this season.

• Will Bruin and Luis Soffner were named to the all-tournament team, with Soffner earning goalkeeper MVP honors.
CAL POLY RECAP
• A tally of 16 shots, seven of which were on frame, was not enough for No. 18 Indiana as the Hoosiers gave up a late goal to Cal Poly in a 1-0 loss Friday night at the Mike Berticelli Memorial Tournament on the campus of Notre Dame in South Bend, Ind.
• "We did not play our best game today," said head coach Todd Yeagley, "nowhere near it. But you learn from your mistakes and move on to the next game."
• The game-winning score came from Chris Bernardi at 82:48 as he hit a low shot to the lower left. Prior to that the Hoosiers had been peppering the Cal Poly net but could not put the ball past the goal line.
• Will Bruin led the Hoosiers with six shots, three of which were on goal. Alec Purdie had three attempts, as did defender Caleb Konstanski who came forward in the waning minutes as Indiana searched for the equalizer. Luis Soffner played all 90 minutes in goal, racking up four saves.
• Nikita Kotlov opened the match with a quick shot in the first minute, making his way around a pair of defenders but sent the shot high. Five minutes in a bad giveaway by Cal Poly left Bruin open on the right but his shot was gobbled up by goalkeeper Patrick McLain.
• A give-and-go from Bruin to Harrison Petts nearly resulted in a score in the 16th minute but Petts' attempt to chip McLain resulted in a save for the goalkeeper. With 14:30 to play, Purdie had a shot from about 10 yards out that was just tipped wide, ultimately leading to a pair of corner kicks for the Hoosiers.
• With 12:40 to play in the first half a free kick from Andy Adlard found the head of Bruin but the junior's attempt was just a few inches high. Bruin led in a ball to Blake Wise and the freshman was able to out-run his defender but had his shot blocked to set up a corner kick, one of five in the first half for the Hoosiers.
• Wise put in one of his dangerous long throw ins in the final minutes and caught McLain off his line but Bruin's attempt was just ticked wide.
• Indiana opened the second half pressuring the ball, playing in Cal Poly's final third for the first three minutes. Soffner was forced to make a diving save to his left on a shot from David Zamora and the rebound went out to Tim White but that shot was blocked by Konstanski. Less than three minutes later Zamora again got behind the Hoosiers but Soffner again was up to the task with his second save of the half. Konstanski had another shot block, this time on a Chris Gaschen attempt.
• Bruin broke free off a ball from Cameron Jordan but his shot went right to McLain for the save.
• In the 79th minute, Tommy Meyer sent a free kick into the box and Bruin got off a shot that was kick saved by goalkeeper Chris Violas, who had to come on for an injured McLain. That led to a corner kick and Purdie got his head on the ball but defender Patrick Sigler saved the ball off the line to keep the match scoreless.
• With Daniel Kelly unavailable due to injury, junior Tyler McCarroll made his first career start, taking over the left back spot. Junior Chris Estridge moved over to the right back spot normally occupied by Kelly.
DRAKE RECAP
• Goals from senior Andy Adlard and freshman Nikita Kotlov put the 22nd-ranked Indiana men's soccer team back on the winning track with a 2-0 win over No. 22 Drake on the final day of the Mike Berticelli Memorial Tournament in South Bend, Ind. Indiana improves to 2-2 on the year, while Drake falls to 1-3.
• "When you look at today it was a good result," said head coach Todd Yeagley. "We have been working to get some shutouts and in this game and on Friday Luis (Soffner) played well and it was nice to get rewarded for that. We had quality chances but we need to better in the final third and our players know that."
• Indiana comes home with its first shutout of the year, with goalkeeper Luis Soffner tallying a save in 90 minutes of action. Soffner and junior forward Will Bruin were named to the all-tournament team for their efforts.
• "We knew that Drake was going to be good on set pieces," Soffner said. "Those were really the only chances they had. The had two or three good crosses in the box that we were a little hesitant on but luckily we cleared them out well enough. Otherwise the defense was really solid today."
• Indiana took 31 shots to the Bulldogs' nine with eight of those shots on frame. Bruin was the top shot taker with seven attempts, while Harrison Petts and Alec Purdie had five each. Purdie was causing all kinds of problems for Drake on the left wing, getting the ball into the mix on several occasions.
• Indiana's first-half score came off a penalty kick from Adlard, his second of the season. The play was set up when Harrison Petts played a ball into Bruin, who was taken down in the box, and Adlard sent his shot past Drake goalkeeper Jordan Kadlec into the lower left at 33:58.
• The second goal came off the foot of Nikita Kotlov for his first IU goal at 69:27. The play began with a Drake turnover at midfield that found its way to Bruin. The junior held the ball as Kotlov made his run and hit the freshman as he was still onside. Facing Kadlec 1-on-1, Kotlov calmly slotted the ball home into the lower left to make it 2-0 for the Hoosiers.
• That opened the game for Indiana as over the next two minutes Bruin would break open for a chip that landed on the roof of the net, and Jacob Bushue found himself open in the six-yard box but was blocked by Kadlec. With 12:50 to play in the second half a 25-yard free kick from Adlard clanged off the crossbar and out of harms way.
• Indiana's first dangerous attempt came seven minutes into the match when Kotlov had an on-frame look that was saved by Jordan Kadlec. Less than a minute later Harrison Petts found Alec Purdie streaking up the right and his service into the box found Bruin but his diving header was high.
• A foul five yards out from the top of the box led to an on-goal free kick from Adlard in the 22nd minute but Kadlec was ready, punching out the ball for the save. A minute later Bruin had another open look, resulting in another save for Kadlec.
• The Hoosiers were unlucky in the 25th minute when a half volley shot from Petts went off the crossbar and bounced off Kadlec, setting up the fourth corner kick of the half. Adlard's corner found Kotlov, but the freshman's header tracked wide left.
• With the Hoosiers up 1-0 late in the first half, freshman Blake Wise had a left-footed shot that just got away from him, sailing high.
• The Hoosiers were living on the edge several times in the first half but were lucky as Drake just missed the final pass or was minimally off target on several shots.
• A lingering injury kept senior Daniel Kelly on the sideline, and freshman Matt McKain made his first ever appearance for the Hoosiers, taking Kelly's starting spot at right back. Chris Estridge moved back over to the left back slot, and Bushue earned his first career start at defensive midfielder.
