IU Takes on Miami (Ohio) and Missouri State This Weekend

SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
Miami enters Friday's game with a 5-0 record. The RedHawks topped Cal, 4-3, Pacific, 8-0, and UC Davis, 4-2, in Berkeley on Aug. 27-30, to open the season. Miami then defeated Brown, 1-0, and Iowa, 5-1, in Iowa City on Sept. 4-5. Friday's game will be the RedHawks home-opener. Miami is led by Jackie Nguyen with eight goals and one assist for a team-best 17 points. She also owns 17 shots on the season.
Missouri State enters Sunday's game with a 2-4 mark after falling to UC Davis in a 2-1 double OT loss. The Bears two wins came with a 7-1 victory over Lindenwood (Aug. 28) and a 1-0 win over Saint Louis (9/10). Missouri State is led by Sarah Cusick with four goals on the season and one assist for a team-high nine points.
SUNDAY GAME PROMOTIONS
The first 200 fans to Sunday's game vs. Missouri State will get an IU Rally Towel, and all FRESHMEN who attend the game will receive extra Crimson Club points that towards the LLC Dorm Challenge.
LAST TIME
IU leads the all-time series with Miami, 6-4, despite falling to the RedHawks, 5-1, in 2009. The Hoosiers also own a 5-1 series lead over Missouri State. The last time the two teams met resulted in a 5-1 IU victory in 2008.
HOOSIERS SPLIT HOME-OPENING WEEKEND
The Indiana field hockey team topped Cal, 4-2, in the home-opener, with goals coming from Kelsey Kiper and Lena Grote, Jaclyn Zamudio and Morgan Fleetwood. Fleetwood led the Hoosiers with three shots, two of which were on goal, and added two assists with her late goal. Kiper tallied two shots on goal with one goal and an assist, while Grote and Zamudio each tallied one goal on one shot. McFadden also took a shot for IU and Brenna Moeljadi recorded two shots, one on goal. Becky Pany started in goal for Indiana and recorded four saves in 70 minutes. The Golden Bears and Hoosiers matched each other in shots, 11-11, however Cal earned nine penalty corners to IU's five.
Two days later, IU suffered a heartbreaking loss to Ohio, 2-1, on Sept. 11 in Bloomington. Shareyna Chang scored the Hoosiers' lone goal at the 38:44 mark in the second half. Fleetwood led the Hoosiers with seven shots taken, five of which were on goal. Moeljadi tallied four shots, three on goal, while Chang scored IU's only goal on one shot taken on the game. Brooke Borneman tallied two shots, one on goal, and Kiper and Kristy McFadden each tallied a shot apiece. Pany played all 70 minutes in goal for Indiana and recorded five saves. Indiana outshot Ohio, 16-10, and recorded 11 corners to the Bobcats' six.
HOOSIERS IN THE POLL
In this week's Kookaburra/NFHCA Division I National Coaches Poll, Indiana received 57 votes to remain just out of the top-20.
HOOSIER NOTABLES
• IU head coach Amy Robertson earned her 90th career victory on Thursday, Sept. 9 with a 4-2 win over Cal.
• Redshirt sophomore Morgan Fleetwood tallied a four points with a goal and two assists against Cal.
• In four games, the Hoosiers have scored five of their seven goals in the second half.
• Junior Becky Pany has 19 saves in four starts this year and a 1.50 goals against average.
• Senior Kelsey Kiper also has four points with one goal and two assists in the first four games.
• Seven Hoosiers have scored a goal for Indiana in the first four games.
• Fleetwood has recorded 15 shots in four games, raising her career total to 104, ranking fifth all-time in the IU record book.
