Women's Golf Heads North To Irish Invitational

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana women's golf team will take part in its third of six fall tournaments with the William K. Warren Irish Invitational at the par-72, 6,079-yard Warren Golf Course in South Bend, Ind., Oct. 2-3.
Indiana is joined by Cincinnati, Georgia State, Illinois, Kent State, Kentucky, Louisville, Maryland, Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Toledo and Texas-San Antonio. The teams will play 36 holes beginning at 9 a.m. on Saturday, followed by an 18-hole round at 9 a.m. Sunday. The Hoosiers will be paired with Kentucky and Maryland in the first and second rounds.
Sophomore Kate Coons will compete in the No. 1 spot, followed by sophomore Pamela Burneski, freshman Lindsay Gahm, sophomore Jacqueline Yanch and junior Kristtini Cain. Senior Lauren Giesecke will compete as an individual.
Coons leads the team in stroke average at 76.50 with one top-25 finish this year. Burneski is second on the team with a 77.16 stroke average through six rounds of play and has the top finish of any Hoosier with a seventh-place showing at the Wolverine Invitational.
The will be the collegiate debut for Gahm, while Yanch previously competed at the Wolverine Invitational, finishing tied for 48th. Cain has competed in all six rounds of play this year with her best finish a tie for 48th at the Wolverine Invitational.
After this weekend Indiana has two fall tournaments remaining with the Lady Northern Invitational in Chicago (Oct. 11-12) and the Challenge at Onion Creek in Austin, Texas (Nov. 1-2).
