BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana Volleyball celebrated their 2010 season on Sunday (Jan. 9) at the annual end of season team banquet. Over 100 friends and family of the team, coaches and support staff, and fans gathered in the Henke Hall of Champions to look back at the finest season in program history, one that ended with an appearance in the Sweet 16 and a final AVCA national ranking No. 23.
The Voice of IU Volleyball, Dave Leno, served as the Master of Ceremonies for the event which began with a meet-and-great session, and was followed by: dinner, the "The Top-10 Things to Remember From the 2010 IU Volleyball Season," presented by Sports Information's Kyle Kuhlman, a season highlight video, remarks from IU Vice President and Director of Athletics Fred Glass and comments from Head Coach Sherry Dunbar.
Next up was the awards ceremony. First-year players Caitlin Hansen, Jade Henderson and Melanie Hicks were all given varsity jackets as a reward for their first varsity letters earned. Additional gifts were presented for the sophomores and juniors before concluding with speeches by Indiana's three seniors, Ashley Benson, Martyna Popik and Taylor Wittmer.
The night concluded with the presentation of two final individual awards. Taylor Wittmer won the Inspirational Award for the second straight season, voted on by her teammates. That award is given strictly by the players and is someone that throughout the season inspired others to give their best through their actions both on and off the court.
Meanwhile, Lindsay Enterline was the staff's choice for the Coaches Award, given to the person who exemplifies exactly what it means to be a true student-athlete.
