IUXC Men and Women Finish Second at Cowboy Jamboree

STILLWATER, Okla. - The Indiana cross country men's and women's teams both placed second at the Cowboy Jamboree on Saturday morning in Stillwater, Okla. Samantha Ginther paced the IU ladies finishing in fifth place, as Adrien Dannemiller was the first Hoosier to cross the line on the men's side in 11th place.
The women's team totaled 81 points and finished just eight points shy of the host team, No. 23 Oklahoma State. Ginther clocked in at 17:25.86 and was followed by Caitlin Engel with a strong ninth place finish in 17:38.96. Chelsea Blanchard then came in 20th at 18:03.97, followed by teammate Breanne Ehrman in 21st with a time of 18:05.61. Rounding out the scoring for the Indiana women was Arianne Raby in 26th place, clocking in at 18:09.69.
In the men's race, No. 6 IU totaled 89 points, finishing behind reigning national champion and the current No. 1 team in the country, Oklahoma State. Dannemiller, a Martinsville, Ind., native, running in his first race as a Hoosier, clocked in at 24:17.34 just ahead of teammate Ben Hubers in 12th place in 24:18.41. Following just behind them were Andrew Poore (15th, 24:23.37) and Zach Mayhew (16th, 24:23.64), earning top-20 finishes. Wrapping up the scoring for Indiana was Ben Bizuneh with a 35th place finish in 24:53.57.
The Hoosiers will be back in action on Oct. 14 with adidas Inviational in Madison, Wis. Then just two days later, part of the team will take part in the Pre-Nationals meet in Terre Haute, Ind.
