Hoosiers Tied for Firestone Lead After Two Rounds

AKRON, Ohio - The Indiana Hoosiers men's golf team is tied for the lead after day one of The Firestone Invitational after posting a 4-under 572 (289-283) through two rounds on the North Course.
The defending champion Hoosiers share the tournament lead with Southern Methodist, while St. Mary's (CA) is sitting one stroke back at 3-under. Akron, Ball State, Iowa State, and Maryland are deadlocked at even par.
Chase Wright led the Hoosiers, firing a 4-under 140 (72-68) to tie for fourth. The senior's strong second round featured eight birdies, including three among his final four holes.
Freshman Andrew Fogg (73-70) and sophomore David Mills (71-72) each posted 1-under 143s on the day to tie for 15th. Fogg, competing in his second collegiate event, finished the day with seven birdies. Both players eagled the par-5 18th hole at the North Course in round two and the Hoosiers were collectively 12-under par on that hole for the day.
Corey Ziedonis is tied for 31st heading into the final round after recording a 2-over 146 (73-73). The Indianapolis, Ind. native had a consistent day, notching pars on 30 of his 36 holes.
Brant Peaper rounded out the Indiana lineup with a 5-over 149 (76-73) to tie for 47th.
Michael McGee, competing as an individual, posted a 14-over 158 (76-82) and will enter Tuesday's final round in 86th.
The Hoosiers, paired with SMU and St. Mary's, will begin play at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday.
