IUXC Teams Compete in Pre Nationals, Men Take Eighth

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - Members of the Indiana cross country teams competed in Indiana State's Pre National Invitational on Sunday in Terre Haute, Ind., with the men's team placing eighth and the women's team finishing in 35th. Andy Bayer was the top Hoosier performer for the day finishing in 10th place in the men's race.
Bayer paced the Hoosiers with a time of 24:27 in the 8K run in his first race of the season. Zach Mayhew finished in 29th in 24:28 before Ben Bizuneh in 38th position clocking in at 25:02. Nate Morrow finished 63rd in 25:20 as J.R. Ricker rounded out the IU men's scoring in 119th with a time of 25:54.
The top Hoosier to finish on the women's side was senior Helene DeLone in 117th with a time of 22:46.
Championship season is just around the corner as IU's cross country teams will compete again on Oct. 30 in Champaign,Ill., in the Big Ten Championships.
