Purdue and Pink This Week for IU Volleyball

The Indiana University volleyball team (8-12, 0-8) reach the midway point in the Big Ten slate this weekend, taking a trip to Purdue on Wednesday for a 7 p.m. match with the Boilers and then hosting the Wisconsin Badgers at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 22. The Boilers are ranked 12th nationally, and both opponents have knocked off ranked Michigan and Ohio State teams this season. The Wisconsin match is a "Dig Pink" match, and all Hoosier fans can get discounted admission by wearing pink in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Both matches will be streamed live on BTN.com and a live audio broadcast of the Purdue match will also be available at IUHoosiers.com. The Voice of IU Volleyball, Cody Sharrett, will have the radio call at Purdue and will be on BTN.com with Eric Robbertz on color against Wisconsin. SCOUTING THE OPPOSITION
The Boilers enter the weekend ranked 12th in the latest AVCA Coaches Poll. The Boilers lead the Big Ten in blocking this season, averaging 2.77 per set. They are led by Ariel Turner, who is the conference leader in kills per set at 4.68 and points per set at 5.41. Tiffany Fisher is the conference leader in hitting percentage as she has a .424 mark on 309 swings this season.
The Badgers are dynamite in the back row, as they lead the Big Ten in digs at 15.88 per set. Annemarie Hickey leads in that department, as she gets out the shovel 4.78 times per set to lead all Big Ten players this season. The Badgers spread the ball around as five players on teh Wisconsin squad average 2.14 kills per set or better.
