SETTING THE SCENE • Indiana is undefeated in its last four games as it closes out nonconference play with a trip to Evansville on Wednesday.
• The Hoosiers are looking for their 10th win of the season, which would match their win total for all of 2010. • Indiana is averaging 2.66 goals per game over its last three matches.
• Sophomore Nikita Kotlov has scored a goal in each of the last three games and is third on the team with four total goals. • This is the Hoosiers' first trip to Evansville since the 2008 season.
NEWS AND NOTES • Indiana remained unbeaten in its last four matches with a 2-2 double overtime tie against Michigan State on Oct. 23.
• The Hoosiers staked themselves to a 2-0 lead but could not hold on, giving up goals in the 55th and 59th minutes. • Sophomore Nikita Kotlov gave Indiana a 1-0 lead with a goal in the 32nd minute, heading home a corner kick from A.J. Corrado.
• It was Kotlov's third goal in as many games and fourth overall this season. • Indiana held a 10-1 shot advantage at the half, with five of those on goal.
• Sophomore Jacob Bushue made it 2-0 IU with a shot off a pass from Eriq Zavaleta in the 50th minute. • It is Bushue's second goal this season and first-ever Big Ten goal.
• Indiana finished with a 27-6 advantage in shots and 8-1 advantage in corner kicks. • Zavaleta led the way with six shots, three of which were on frame, including a header in the final minute of the second overtime that was cleared off the line.
• The 27 shots is the most by the Hoosiers this season. • Defender Tommy Meyer leads the squad in assists with six, while Harrison Petts is one behind with five.
• Indiana's 28 goals have come from seven different players.
SCOUTING THE PURPLE ACES
• Evansville is 5-7-1 on the season and is 0-4-1 in its last five matches, including a 1-0 loss to Butler on Oct. 22. • Its wins have come against IUPUI (2-0), Eastern Illinois (3-2 OT), Loyola Chicago (4-0), Memphis (2-1 2OT) and Belmont (4-1).
• Ryan Stallings leads the team with five goals scored, while Jessie Sharp is tops in points with 14 (4g, 6a). • Goalkeeper Eric Teppen has appeared in 11 games, allowing 14 goals in 1014 minutes for a 1.24 GAA, with three shutouts. Robert Randant has played 205 minutes in three matches, allowing four goals for a 1.75 GAA.
• Evansville has scored 18 goals while allowing 18 goals. The Purple Aces have a slim 157-154 advantage in shot attempts and lead 52-46 in corner kicks. • Head coach Mike Jacobs is in his sixth season as head coach at Evansville. He is assisted by Marshall Ray and Chris Loftus.
SERIES HISTORY • Indiana leads the all-times series with Evansville, 23-4-3.
• The teams first met in 1978, a 1-0 win by the Hoosiers. • The Purple Aces only wins in the series have come in 1985 ( a pair of 3-0 wins), 1988 (1-0) and 1990 (1-0).
• The Hoosiers are 12-0-1 in the last 13 meetings, including a 1-0 win in 2010. • Evansville has not tallied a goal in the series since 2008, a 3-2 OT win for the Hoosiers in Evansville. Indiana has outscored the Purple Aces 18-3 in the last six meetings.
• IU head coach Todd Yeagley had a goal in IU's 3-1 win in 1994, while assistant coach Brian Maisonneuve had an assist in a 4-1 victory in 1992.

INDIANA IN THE POLLS • Indiana moved up two spots to No. 8 in this week's Soccer America poll and up three spots to No. 10 in the NSCAA top 25.
• The Hoosiers are up two spots to No. 16 in the College Soccer News top-30. IU stays at No. 14 in the week 10 Top Drawer Soccer Tournament 48.
NCAA RPI
• Indiana remains at No. 19 in the second NCAA RPI list that came out on Oct. 25. IU was also No. 19 in the first release on Oct. 18. • Other Big Ten RPI numbers: Wisconsin 36, Northwestern 48, Ohio State 59, Michigan State 85, Penn State 92, Michigan 129.
DID YOU KNOW? • Indiana is 5-1-1 this year when jumping out to a 2-0 lead in a match.
• A win over Evansville would give Indiana its best nonconference record since 2005, when it went 9-0-3 against nonconference opponents. • Eriq Zavaleta's eight goals is the most by a freshman since Matt Fundenberger had 13 in 1997.
• Indiana is 6-1 in games where Zavaleta scores a goal. • Zavaleta's season high shot attempts of six has come in two of the last three matches (Michigan, Michigan State).
• The Hoosiers' 27 shots against Michigan State was a season high. • 54 percent (6/11) of Indiana's starting lineup is either a freshman or sophomore. In addition, the first two players off the bench are also sophomores.
• Indiana has 29 assists on 28 goals this season. • Indiana is out-scoring its opponents 13-4 in the first half.
• The Hoosiers have scored 13 goals in the first half and 15 goals in the second half so far this year. • Twelve different players have scored points for IU this year.
• Purdie has topped his previous career best for goals in a season with seven so far this year. He had three in 2010, and five total for his career entering the 2011 season. • The Hoosiers have scored 10 of their 28 goals within the first 32 minutes of the match this season. Five of those have come within the first 20 minutes of play.
• Indiana has been limited to single digits in shot attempts twice this season (at St. John's, Creighton). • Indiana has earned seven Big Ten Player of the Week awards so far this season. That is more than the 2009 (1) and 2010 (4) seasons combined.
• Indiana is averaging 2,390 fans per home match this season.
HOOSIERS IN THE BIG TEN (as of 10/24)
• The Hoosiers are at or near the top of the standings in several Big Ten statistical categories. • Eriq Zavaleta leads the Big Ten in points with 19 and points per game with 1.27. He is tied for the conference lead in goals scored (8) and goals per game (0.53).
• Alec Purdie is tied for second in points (16), points per game (1.07) and is third in goals (7) and goals per game (0.47). • Purdie leads the conference in game-winning goals with four, while Zavaleta is second with three.
• Tommy Meyer is second in assists (6) and assists per game (0.40), while Harrison Petts is third with five. Chris Estridge and A.J. Corrado are tied for fourth with four each.. • Goalkeeper Luis Soffner is second in the Big Ten in save percentage (.812) and is third in goals-against average (0.84), saves (56), saves per game (3.73), shutouts (6) and shutouts per game (0.40).
FRESHMAN IMPACT • The Hoosiers are getting key contributions from several players who are donning the cream and crimson for the first time in 2011.
• Forward Eriq Zavaleta is making his case for Big Ten Freshman of the Year honors. Zavaleta leads the team in goals scored with eight. • He is tied for the Big Ten lead in goals scored with eight and leads the league in points (19) and points per game (1.26).
• His eight goals have come on just 36 shots, and he has started all 15 matches. His eight goals are also the most by an IU freshman since Matt Fundenberger had 13 as a freshman in 1997. • Freshman midfielder Patrick Doody has appeared in 11 games for IU. While he has not yet found the back of the net, Doody has been a key player for Indiana off the bench as they have gone 7-1-3 in his appearances.
• Kerel Bradford redshirted in 2010 and is making the most of his first season on the pitch at IU. Bradford has started all 15 matches and has been a key cog for the Hoosiers in the midfield.
OH...OVERTIME
• Extra minutes have not been kind to the Hoosiers this season as they are 0-1-3 in overtime contests. • Indiana started the season with a 0-0 double overtime tie at No. 12 Notre Dame on Aug. 27. The Hoosiers were also held without a goal in extra time in a 0-0 double overtime tie at No. 16 St. John's on Sept. 16.
• Their first loss in overtime came on Oct. 5, a 3-2 defeat at the hands of No. 11 Louisville. Indiana held a 2-0 lead until the 73rd minute, when the Cardinals fired off two quick goals to tie the match, then scored the game-winning goal less than five minutes into overtime. • The Hoosiers' third tie this season came against Michigan State on Oct. 23. Indiana could not hold on to a 2-0 lead, giving up two second-half goals for a 2-2 tie.
• Indiana is 6-7-16 in overtime matches over the last five seasons.
