Cross Country Hoosiers Head to Big Ten Championships

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana cross country teams have hit the championship portion of the schedule for the 2011 season. This weekend marks the running of the annual Big Ten Championships, hosted this year by the University of Illinois in Champaign on Sunday, Oct. 30. The event will be broadcast on BTN on Nov. 11 at Noon ET.
The men's 8K race will begin at 10:45 a.m. CT/11:45 a.m. ET at the U of I Championship Cross Country Course. The Hoosier men's team is currently ranked No. 7 in the country and finished second as a team in this race one year ago. Other ranked teams competing this weekend include No. 2 Wisconsin, No. 12 Minnesota, No. 21 Michigan and No. 26 Ohio State. Andy Bayer led IU last season with a second place finish at Big Ten's.
The women's 6K race is slated to start at 11:45 a.m. CT/12:45 p.m. ET. The IU women hope to improve on their fifth place finish in 2010 at Big Tens. The women will also face some stiff competition with Michigan State, Michigan, Penn State and Iowa all ranked in the top-30 nationally.
