SETTING THE SCENE
 Indiana is 4-0-1 in its last five games and looks to extend its unbeaten streak as it travels to Northwestern.
 A lot is on the line as Northwestern sits in first place in the Big Ten and the Hoosiers are looking to move up in the standings.
 Indiana is looking for its 11th victory this season, which would be the most regular-season wins for the Hoosiers since 2008.
 Indiana is averaging 2.50 goals per game over its last four matches.
 Sophomore Nikita Kotlov has scored a goal in each of the last four games and is third on the team with five total goals.

NEWS AND NOTES
 Indiana picked up its 10th win of the season with a 2-1 victory at Evansville on Oct. 26.
 Senior Chris Estridge and sophomore Nikita Kotlov were the goal scorers for the Hoosiers.
 Estridge tallied his third goal of the season with a strike in the 39th minute that put the Hoosiers up 1-0.
 He took a quick pass in the box from Harrison Petts before hitting the lower right past UE goalkeeper Eric Teppen.
 Kotlov put IU up 2-0 in the 57th minute, one-timing a ball from Alec Purdie.
 It was Kotlov's fifth goal this season and the fourth-straight match where he scored a goal.
 Freshman Michael Soderlund earned his first career start in goal, tallying five saves for his first career win.
 Sophomore A.J. Corrado also earned a starting nod in place of Jacob Bushue, who was sitting out after accumulating his fifth yellow card of the season.
 Joe Tolen, Tim Wylie, Jamie Vollmer, Nick Blevins and Patrick Doody also saw game action.
 Defender Tommy Meyer and Petts are now tied for the team lead in assists with six each.
 Indiana's 30 goals have come from seven different players.

SCOUTING THE WILDCATS
 Northwestern is 9-4-3 overall and 3-0-1 in Big Ten play.
 After a slow start NU has gone 6-0-1 in its last seven matches, posing five shutouts over that period.
 Goalkeeper Tyler Miller has started 14 matches, allowing just 10 goals for a 0.69 GAA. The Wildcats have not allowed a goal since a 3-2 win over Ohio State on Oct. 9, posting three-straight shutouts.
 Northwestern is outscoring opponents 24-13, with six of those goals coming Thursday in a win over Division III Rockford College.
 NU is led by Oliver Kupe with six goals. Lepe Seetane is next on the list with four.
 Kyle Schickel has three goals, two of which have come in Big Ten play, and six assists, three of which came against Rockford College.
 Head coach Tim Lenahan is in his 11th season at NU. He is assisted by Neil Jones and Rich Nassif.
 Director of Operations Mark Plotkin is the brother of former Hoosier Brian Plotkin (2002-05).

SERIES HISTORY
 Indiana leads the all-times series with Northwestern, 24-2-1.
 The Hoosiers are 10-1-1 in matches played in Evanston, outscoring the Wildcats 42-5 in those games.
 Indiana's last trip to Northwestern resulted in a 2-0 loss. Indiana is 4-1 in the last five meetings, including a 3-2 victory last year in Bloomington which clinched the Big Ten regular season title.
 The Hoosiers have scored five or more goals in eight meetings.

FRESHMAN IMPACT
 The Hoosiers are getting key contributions from several players who are donning the cream and crimson for the first time in 2011.
 Forward Eriq Zavaleta is making his case for Big Ten Freshman of the Year honors. Zavaleta leads the team in goals scored with eight.
 He is tied for the Big Ten lead in goals scored with eight and leads the league in points (19) and points per game (1.19).
 His eight goals have come on just 38 shots, and he has started all 16 matches. His eight goals are also the most by an IU freshman since Matt Fundenberger had 13 as a freshman in 1997.
 Freshman midfielder Patrick Doody has appeared in 12 games for IU. While he has not yet found the back of the net, Doody has been a key player for Indiana off the bench as they have gone 8-1-3 in his appearances.
 Kerel Bradford redshirted in 2010 and is making the most of his first season on the pitch at IU. Bradford has started all 16 matches and has been a key cog for the Hoosiers in the midfield.

INDIANA IN THE POLLS
 Indiana moved up two spots to No. 8 in this week's Soccer America poll and up three spots to No. 10 in the NSCAA top 25.
 The Hoosiers are up two spots to No. 16 in the College Soccer News top-30. IU stays at No. 14 in the week 10 Top Drawer Soccer Tournament 48.

NCAA RPI
 Indiana remains at No. 19 in the second NCAA RPI list that came out on Oct. 25. IU was also No. 19 in the first release on Oct. 18.
 Other Big Ten RPI numbers: Wisconsin 36, Northwestern 48, Ohio State 59, Michigan State 85, Penn State 92, Michigan 129.

OFFENSIVE DEFENDER
 While known as a lights-out defender and a top professional prospect, senior centerback Tommy Meyer has found his offensive side this season.
 Meyer has found himself much more involved in the offense this year and is tied for the team lead with six assists.
 Meyer had a pair of assists in the 6-0 win over Dayton on Sept. 4 and added two more in a 2-0 win at Rutgers on Sept. 18.
 His fifth assist of the year came on Eriq Zavaleta's goal vs. No. 11 Louisville. He also assisted on Nikita Kotlov's goal in a 4-1 win at Michigan on Oct. 15.
 His six assists rank Meyer tied for second in the Big Ten Conference, as well as his 0.38 assists per game average.

NEW TO ME...AND YOU
 While they may not be freshmen, these key players are new faces for Hoosier fans in 2011.
 Sophomore A.J. Corrado came to Indiana from SMU in the spring of 2010, and the Hoosier native has had an immediate impact.
 Corrado's first career goal came in a 2-0 win at Rutgers on Sept. 18. Appearing in all 14 matches, he also has assisted on the game-winning goal vs. No. 16 Penn State, and had a pair of assists in a 6-0 win over Dayton on Sept. 4.
 Corrado's fouth assist this season came in a 2-2 tie with Michigan State on Oct. 23.
 Corrado is from Zionsville, Ind. and played alongside sophomore Harrison Petts at Zionsville Community HS.
 Sophomore Jamie Vollmer is in his first year at IU after spending 2010 at Butler. Vollmer has appeared in all 16 matches, with 13 starts, and has one assist on the season.
 The midfielder is best known for his long throw-ins that have incredible accuracy and come in to play in the box each time.

OH...OVERTIME
 Extra minutes have not been kind to the Hoosiers this season as they are 0-1-3 in overtime contests.
 Indiana started the season with a 0-0 double overtime tie at No. 12 Notre Dame on Aug. 27. The Hoosiers were also held without a goal in extra time in a 0-0 double overtime tie at No. 16 St. John's on Sept. 16.
 Their first loss in overtime came on Oct. 5, a 3-2 defeat at the hands of No. 11 Louisville. Indiana held a 2-0 lead until the 73rd minute, when the Cardinals fired off two quick goals to tie the match, then scored the game-winning goal less than five minutes into overtime.
 The Hoosiers' third tie this season came against Michigan State on Oct. 23. Indiana could not hold on to a 2-0 lead, giving up two second-half goals for a 2-2 tie.
 Indiana is 6-7-16 in overtime matches over the last five seasons.

DID YOU KNOW?
 Indiana went 8-2-2 agaisnt nonconference opponents this season, its best nonconference record since 2005, when it went 9-0-3 against nonconference opponents
 Indiana is 6-1-1 this year when jumping out to a 2-0 lead in a match.
 Eriq Zavaleta's eight goals is the most by a freshman since Matt Fundenberger had 13 in 1997.
 Indiana is 6-1 in games where Zavaleta scores a goal.
 The Hoosiers' 27 shots against Michigan State was a season high.
 54 percent (6/11) of Indiana's starting lineup is either a freshman or sophomore. In addition, the first two players off the bench are also sophomores.
 Indiana has 31 assists on 30 goals this season.
 Indiana is out-scoring its opponents 14-4 in the first half.
 The Hoosiers have scored 14 goals in the first half and 16 goals in the second half so far this year.
 Twelve different players have scored points for IU this year.
 Purdie has topped his previous career best for goals in a season with seven so far this year. He had three in 2010, and five total for his career entering the 2011 season.
 The Hoosiers have scored 10 of their 30 goals within the first 32 minutes of the match this season. Five of those have come within the first 20 minutes of play.
 Indiana has been limited to single digits in shot attempts twice this season (at St. John's, Creighton).
 Indiana has earned seven Big Ten Player of the Week awards so far this season. That is more than the 2009 (1) and 2010 (4) seasons combined.
 Indiana is averaging 2,390 fans per home match this season.
