BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - More than 60 Indiana student-athletes, coaches and staff members tool part in a Habitat for Humanity build on Oct. 1-2 in Bloomington. The house, which was constructed on the IU campus near the DeVault Alumni Center, will be given to the owners on Saturday, Oct. 8.
"It is so exciting because so many of our first-year student-athletes were able to participate in this year's Habitat build, which was designed to be one of the service learning opportunities provided to them through the Excellence Academy," said Mattie White, IU Associate Athletic Director for Student-Athlete Well-Being and Development. "In addition to their involvement, it was great for us to be able to work so closely with the Kelley School of Business and Habitat for Humanity of Monroe County. This was an experience that these student-athletes remember for a very long time and hopefully participating in the build was yet another meaningful example of how we are all a part of something bigger than ourselves."
