BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana head women's basketball coach Felisha Legette-Jack was a chairperson at the Salvation Army's 2011 Kettle Kickoff at the Bloomington Convention Center on Wednesday, Nov. 16. Along with Legette-Jack, assistant coach Charlene Thomas-Swinson, assistant athletic director for women's basketball Stephanie Siler and administrative assistant Julie Force attended the luncheon.
Nearly $34,000 was raised at the community event. The money raised during a five-minute Dash for Cash, during which two-member teams ran around the room with red buckets collecting donations from those in attendance.
Legette-Jack spoke at the event and handed out awards with Joani Crean. Former Hoosier football coach Bill Mallory and a member of IU women's basketball's Phenomenal Women group, Sylvia McNair, also served as chairpersons.
The Salvation Army hopes to raise $260,000 through its holiday campaign, which will consist of the money raised at the Kettle Kickoff as well as funds donated through the Red Kettle Campaign throughout the Bloomington area and mail appeal.
