BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana University sophomore Eric Ress was named the Big Ten Swimmer of the Week, the conference office announced Tuesday. It is the second time this season he has earned the honor.
Ress won two individual events and set a pair of pool records in the process as the Hoosiers tallied dual meet wins over No. 18 Louisville and Virginia Tech last Friday evening. Ress won the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 46.55 an NCAA B cut and Ralph Wright Natatorium record. He made it a sweep of the backstroke events with a winning time of 1:45.43 in the 200, also an NCAA provisional mark and new pool record.
Ress earned two more NCAA B cuts in the 200 medley relay (1:29.76) and the 500 freestyle (4:28.26).
No. 13 Indiana wraps up its dual meet schedule this Saturday, Feb. 5 as it travels to conference rival No. 23 Purdue. The meet gets underway at noon.
