Indiana Falls to No. 6 Duke

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - No. 44 Indiana (5-1) fell to No. 6 Duke (5-0) on Friday afternoon in Bloomington. It marks the first loss for the Hoosiers on the season.
The Blue Devils swept the doubles point. Sophie Garre and Leslie Hureau played well, but fell in a tight one at No. 3 doubles, 8-5.
In singles play, Duke featured three ranked players, two of which were in the top 50. Indiana's Evgeniya Vertesheva went the distance with No. 71 Elizabeth Plotkin playing in the No. 2 slot, before falling just short in a match tiebreaker in the third set, 6-4, 4-6, 1-0 (10-5).
No. 91 Leslie Hureau had a strong outing at No. 1 singles taking five games in the second set against No. 25 Nadine Fahoum, 6-2, 7-5.
The Hoosier will return to the IU Tennis Center on Sunday, Feb. 6 to host Butler at 11 a.m. and Memphis at 4 p.m. for live match updates for Sunday.
