
Hoosiers Fall to No. 4 UCLA and No. 9 SJSU

The Indiana Hoosiers (2-7) women's water polo team fell to No. 4 UCLA and No. 9 San Jose State to close out play at the Stanford Invitational on Sunday.
The Hoosiers trailed by just two goals midway through the final quarter against UCLA before giving up the game's final three scores in the last game of pool play to lose 9-4.
In the seventh place game against SJSU, the Hoosiers fell behind early and could not recover, losing 10-6. The Spartans led 6-2 at the half and the two teams split two goals apiece in each of the final two periods.
"I thought we came out and played well for a majority of the UCLA contest," said Indiana head coach Barry King. "We can't have lapses against high quality teams and hope to win."
The Hoosiers were led in scoring against UCLA by Kara Butler, Hanna Eimstad, Shae Fournier, and Jakie Köhli, each with one goal. Cassie Wyckoff had nine saves against the Bruins.
In the afternoon contest against SJSU, Butler and Nicole Redder scored two goals apiece, while Kelsey Campbell and Lauren Wyckoff each added one. Cassie Wyckoff had 11 saves in the cage for the Hoosiers.
Indiana is out of action for the next two weeks before returning to California for The Rodeo at Santa Clara.
