Hoosier Trio Collect CWPA Player of the Week Honors

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Three Hoosiers swept the CWPA Western Division weekly awards after competing in a difficult five-game slate over the weekend in California, the conference office announced on Tuesday. Senior Lauren Wyckoff was named Player of the Week, junior Cassie Wyckoff was tabbed as Defensive Player of the Week, and freshman Shae Fournier earned her second Rookie of the Week award.
Lauren Wyckoff scored five goals and posted totals of four assists and five steals, to go along with a team-high 10 earned exclusions during the five game trip. Wyckoff started the weekend by scoring on a fourth quarter lob against UC Davis to help the Hoosiers defeat the No. 16 Aggies 15-13 in overtime. The Los Altos, Calif. native also dished out three assists in that game, to go along with a steal and three earned exclusions. Her three assists against UC Davis made her the only current Hoosier to have over 100 in a career. She is sixth on the Indiana all-time assists list with 101.
Wyckoff was the lone Hoosier scorer in a loss to No. 2 USC at the Stanford Invitational, notching a goal on a backhand from the post. She also picked up two earned kick-outs against the Trojans.
Wyckoff had two first period goals in a loss to No. 5 Hawaii. Her two scores helped keep the Hoosiers within striking range as they trailed by just one at the half. She also had a steal and a kick-out earned in the contest.
Against No. 4 UCLA, Wyckoff grabbed two steals, dished out an assist, and earned three exclusions in the loss to the Bruins. She finished the weekend by tallying a goal, a steal, and an earned exclusion against No. 9 San Jose State. Wyckoff leads the Hoosiers with 21 earned exclusions on the season.
Cassie Wyckoff grabbed 48 saves, to go along with five steals and two assists during 166 minutes in the cage over the weekend for the Hoosiers. She had six saves, two steals, and an assist during the win at UC Davis.
In one of three double-digit save performances during the weekend, Wyckoff collected 12 stops against USC. She then had 10 saves and a pair of steals in the loss to Hawaii.
Wyckoff had nine saves and a steal against UCLA, along with 11 saves and an assist against San Jose State. She has posted double-digit saves on five occasions this season. She has a total of 83 stops in the cage during her junior campaign, as well as 10 steals.
Fournier recorded two goals, six assists, and four steals for the Hoosiers during the trip. The freshman made several key plays down the stretch for the Hoosiers during their win at UC Davis, including an earned five-meter penalty that Jakie Köhli converted for a score. She also found the cage during a five-on-five, launching in a long-range goal to give the Hoosiers a two-score lead during the fourth quarter. Fournier also added an assist, two steals, and a pair of field blocks against the Aggies.
Against No. 2 USC and No. 5 Hawaii, Fournier dished out a total of three assists. She converted a five-meter shot to pull the Hoosiers within two during the fourth quarter of the loss to UCLA, while also grabbing two steals and making one assist.
Fournier also recorded a single assist against No. 9 San Jose State. The Winnipeg, Man. native has season totals of four goals and seven assists. She also has a team-high 13 steals, including five multi-steal performances.
