Hoosiers Overpower Siena, 12-6

Riverside, Calif. - The No. 13 Indiana Hoosiers (12-9) women's water polo team exploded for five first quarter goals on their way to a 12-6 win against Siena on Thursday afternoon at the Lancer Invite.
Nine Hoosiers registered goals in the contest, led by Nicole Redder's hat trick. Lauren Wyckoff had two markers in the win, while Kara Butler, Kelsey Campbell, Kate Dunn, Hanna Eimstad, Shae Fournier, Jakie Köhli, and Meghan Lappan each added one.
Cassie Wyckoff picked up eight saves and a steal, while also dishing out one assist in 32 minutes.
Lappan opened the scoring for the Hoosiers, finding the back of the cage after a dish from Köhli at the 6:02 mark of the first period.
Redder then put together back-to-back goals in a minute time span to make it 3-0 with 4:26 to play in the quarter.
Campbell and Fournier rounded out the first quarter flurry with a pair of goals late in the period to give the Hoosiers a five-goal lead.
Eimstad continued the Indiana momentum, scoring from close-range after an assist from Butler just 30 seconds into the second stanza.
Siena showed signs of life for the remainder of the period, scoring three straight goals to pull within three at the half.
The Saints fired in a goal from outside five meters early in the third to cut the deficit to two.
Redder put the finishing touches on her third hat trick of the 2011 season 23 seconds later, finishing with a scoop shot after an assist by Lauren Wyckoff. Wyckoff followed that with a goal of her own, converting a five-meter penalty shot after Fournier drew the foul to make it 8-4.
Both teams exchanged a pair of goals to finish the third period, with Butler and Wyckoff doing the damage for Indiana to give the Hoosiers a 10-6 edge heading into the fourth.
Köhli launched a shot in from the outside early in the final stanza to put the Hoosiers up by five.
The fourth quarter also included a five-meter penalty save by Cassie Wyckoff to help keep the Saints off the board in the period.
Dunn wrapped up the Indiana scoring attack with a post-up goal at the 1:37 mark after an assist by Dana Mayeron.
