BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana women's golf team will take its second trip to Arizona in as many weeks as it travels to the MountainView Invitational, hosted by the University of Colorado at the MountainView Golf Course in Tucson, Ariz.
The field includes the Hoosiers, Buffaloes, Arkansas, Baylor, Colorado State, Gonzaga, Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Oregon State, San Jose State, Texas State, Texas Tech and Wyoming.
The 54-hole tournament begins on Friday, March 25, with a shotgun start at 7:30 a.m. PT. The teams will play 36 holes on Friday, followed by an 18-hole round on Saturday, March 26.
The Hoosiers are coming off a second-place finish at the Lumberjack Shootout at Wigwam last week in Phoenix. Senior Lauren Giesecke was the top Hoosier finisher with a career-best tournament score of 218 (+2), finishing tied for seventh. That has earned Giesecke the start in the No. 1 spot.
Sophomore Lindsay Gahm will play at No. 2, finishing tied for 19th last week. Junior Kristtini Cain comes to Arizona in the No. 3 spot, followed by sophomore Jacqueline Yanch and sophomore Kate Coons.
Indiana has a history of success at the MountainView Invitational. The Hoosiers won the tournament in 2008 and produced the tournament's individual champion in 2007 (Elaine Harris) and 2008 (Lauren Harling). This will be Indiana's sixth trip to the Invitational and the Hoosiers have never finished lower than fifth.
