200 Backstroke
Sophomore Eric Ress came out and made a statement with a school record of 1:39.52 in the 200 backstroke prelims. That is more than a second faster than the previous time of 1:40.85 set by Ben Hesen at the 2008 Big Ten Championships. He is the top qualifier for tonight’s championship final.
200 Breaststroke
Freshman Cody Miller placed sixth in his heat with a time of 1:55.21 in the 200 breaststroke. That is the fourth-fastest time in school history and puts Miller in 13th, earning him a spot in the consolation final.
200 Butterfly
Senior Cody Weik was second in his heat and 22nd overall in the 200 butterfly with a time of 1:45.81.
400 Freestyle Relay
Indiana’s quartet of senior Ante Zoricic, senior Titus Knight, sophomore Jim Barbiere and freshman James Wells placed sixth in their heat with a time of 2:57.91. That put them in a tie for 19th overall, matching times with Penn State.
200 Backstroke
