TUCSON, Ariz. - The Indiana women's golf team posted a final-round score of 296 to finish 15th at the 18-team MountainView Invitational at the MountainView Golf Course in Tucson, Ariz.
The Hoosiers put up scores of 300-311-296 for a tournament tally of 907. Iowa State won the tournament at 857, followed by Oklahoma (863), Arkansas (864), host Colorado (873) and Minnesota (883) in the top five.
Sophomore Kate Coons had the round of the day with a 3-under 69 to finish tied for 36th at 223 (78-76-69). The round of 69 is a season best and ties her career-best low round. Coons was 1-under after four holes but moved back to even par with a bogey on 17. From there out she went on a scoring tear, picking up birdies on four of the next eight holes, with pars on the others. That put her at -4 with three holes remaining. A bogey on her final hole left her at -3 for the day.
Freshman Lindsay Gahm finished in a tie with Coons at 36th with a final-round 76 (72-75-76). Gahm opened with back-to-back bogeys on 12 and 13 before settling in with pars on four of the next five holes. Another bogey was matched with her first birdie of the day on hole one, but two more bogeys followed on holes two and four. She dropped to +3 with a birdie on five, but added another bogey on seven to finish out the day at +4.
Junior Kristtini Cain came back with a even-par 72 to place tied for 49th with a score of 226 (74-80-72). Cain had a solid open to her round with a score of -2 through the first nine holes. She added a stroke with a bogey on three but made up for it with her third birdie of the day on four. Bogeys on six and eight followed to put her at even par entering the final two holes, which is how she finished.
Sophomore Jacqueline Yanch placed 82nd with a tournament tally of 236 (76-81-79). It was a rough start for Yanch with a double bogey on her first hole of the day. She would par the next five holes before hitting a rough patch with a bogey on two and a triple bogey on three. After another bogey on five, she bounced back with a pair of birdies and two pars to drop back down to +5. Her final four hole saw her go +2 to finish the day at +7.
Senior Lauren Giesecke finished the tournament in 87th with a score of 239 (78-80-81). Giesecke's day started with bogeys on three of the first four holes. She put up a par on 18 but made the turn and bogeyed one and double bogeyed two. Her score jumped to +7 with a bogey on four but continued to fight through the round with pars on the next six holes. Giesecke finished her round with a bogey on 11 and a double bogey on 13.
