Indiana Finishes Seventh at 2011 Border Olympics

LAREDO, Texas -
The Indiana Hoosiers men's golf team (No. 28 Golfweek-Sagarin/No. 34 Golfstat) posted a 2-under par final round of 286 (286-284-286---856) to finish seventh among a 19-team field at the Border Olympics at Laredo Country Club on Saturday, led by junior Chase Wright's fourth top-ten finish of the 2011 season.
Arkansas took home the team title after finishing with a 32-under 832, followed by Oklahoma at 27-under 837. Michael Whitehead of Rice grabbed medalist honors after a 10-under 62 in the final round for a 19-under 197 total.
Wright put together his second straight sub-70 round, notching a 3-under 69 (74-67-69---210) to finish tied for eighth. Wright's round included a birdie-eagle-birdie three-hole stretch on his way to a 32 on the back nine.
David Erdy closed the tournament with a 1-over 73 (70-71-73---214) in the final round to finish tied for 21st. Erdy has finished in the top-25 in seven of Indiana's eight tournaments this season.
Brant Peaper posted the lowest score of the day for Indiana, firing a bogey-free 4-under 68 (77-72-68---217) and finishing tied for 35th.
After a solid first day, Corey Ziedonis struggled in the final round, carding an 82 (68-74-82---224) and finishing tied for 67th. David Mills ended the tournament one shot behind Ziedonis after recording a 76 (74-75-76---225) to round out the Indiana lineup.
The Hoosiers will be back in action on April 9-10 as they host the adidas Hoosier Invitational in Bloomington, Ind.
