FIRST PITCH
The Hoosiers are 7-1 on the current homestand following a weekend split against Minnesota to open Big Ten play. The Hoosiers host the Indiana State Sycamores out of the Missouri Valley Conference, the fourth team from the MVC that the Hoosiers will play this season.
Morgan Melloh has been dominant at home during the homestand, posting a 1.19 ERA in the circle with three shutouts and 91 strikeouts. Opponents are hitting just .138 against the left-handed ace while the Indiana bats are hitting at a .286 clip at the friendly confines.
HIGH IN THE RPI
The NCAA released its first RPI standings of the season on Tuesday and the tough schedule that Indiana has played to this point helped their cause, allowing them to check in a 41 on the list. They were the third-highest ranked Big Ten team, trailing Michigan (8) and Northwestern (25). The Hoosiers have also played each of the top five teams in the RPI standings and seven of the top 10.

LATE INNING HEROES
Last week, Indiana played host to another Hoosier State foe in Butler University and it took some late inning heroics in both games of the doubleheader for Indiana to grab a pair of wins.
In the first game, freshman Meaghan Murphy lined a two-run home run to center field with two outs and two strikes in the bottom of the seventh inning to give the Hoosiers a 4-2 win. Then in game two, senior Kelsey Stander's single to right field in the bottom of the sixth inning propelled the Hoosiers to a 4-3 victory over the Bulldogs.
Indiana is 5-3 this season in one-run games and a perfect 16-0 when leading after five innings of play.
MAGIC NUMBER FOUR?
While the Indiana offense has struggled with consistency at times this season, the numbers show that if they are able to score four runs in a game they are in a great position to win the game. The Hoosiers are 13-0 this season when they put at least four runs on the scoreboard.
20-WIN SEASONS
With a win on Wednesday against Indiana State, the Hoosiers will have their 20th victory of the season. It would mark just the third time in the last 14 seasons that IU has reached the 20-win mark in a season.
