BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana field hockey team opened the spring season on Saturday, March 26, with scrimmages against Miami (OH) and Louisville in Oxford, Ohio.
The Hoosiers played one 30 minute period against the RedHawks with redshirt sophomore Morgan Fleetwood scoring on a penalty corner. She picked up a rebound off a corner shot and lifted the ball past Miami's goalkeeper into the opposite corner of the net to put IU up 1-0. However, the RedHawks answered with a goal on a penalty corner of their own, despite the ball being cleared out by redshirt junior Brenna Moeljadi, for a 1-1 tie.
In game two, IU played two 20-minute periods against Louisville with the Cardinals scoring a goal in the first period.
The Hoosiers return to action when they travel to Louisville for an 11 vs. 11 scrimmage on Saturday, April 9 and a 7 vs. 7 scrimmage on Sunday, April 10. Opponents for that weekend are to be determined.
