BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana women's soccer team continued the Spring portion of its schedule on Friday with a home game against the Louisville Cardinals. The Hoosiers outshot the Cardinals, 9-7, in the contest but it was a goal by UofL's Jennifer Jones in the 14th minute that proved to be the difference in the 1-0 loss.
Jones was able to take advantage of a turnover deep in the IU end of the field and took a shot from 25 yards out that squeezed under the far corner post.
Orianica Velasquez, Carly Samp and Becca Zambon each had two shots in the game for Indiana.
In goal for the Hoosiers Lindsay Campbell got the start and allowed the one goal in her 45 minutes of action. Shannon Flower started the second half and made three saves, a couple of them on nice plays charging out of the goal to stop breakaway attempts by the Cardinals.
Next up on the spring slate will be a game against Saint Louis on April 2 that will be played at Indiana State University as part of their "Locks for Love" event to support cancer awareness.
