BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana Head Volleyball Coach Sherry Dunbar has announced that Chanté George has signed a National Letter of Intent to play at Indiana, becoming the fourth signee in IU's 2011 class. George is a 6-0 middle blocker/outside hitter from Warren High School in San Antonio, Texas.
"We are excited to have Chanté join our other three signees for the 2011 class," said Dunbar "We are glad that she found the right fit here at Indiana. I am very impressed with Chanté's raw athletic ability and her versatility to help us both at the outside and middle positions. She is an athlete I can't wait to see develop as she goes through her career after strength training and competing at this level. I believe she will flourish in this environment."
George had an outstanding senior year, leading Warren to a 27-win season en route to first team all-district honors. She played club volleyball for Superior Sports Volleyball Club. She made all-tournament teams at the Seguin Tournament and the NISD Tournament and was named to the all-academic volleyball team. George totaled 239 kills and 70 blocks as a junior for all-district honors. She was twice a recipient of the Earl Warren Athletics Award and earned team MVP honors. A four-year `A' Honor Roll student, George was a Society of English Scholars member, a National Honor Society member and a Sociedad Honoraria Hispanica Member. She is the daughter of Lisa and Colin George.
George joins the three other student-athletes that have already signed:
MORGAN LEACH (Champaign, Ill., Centennial H.S., Illini Elite Club)
COLLEEN SMITH (Cary, Ill., Cary-Gove H.S., Sky High Club)
JENNIFER SMITH (Greenville, Ind., Floyd Central H.S., KIVA Club)
