Hoosiers in Third at Illini Spring Classic

The Indiana Hoosiers men's golf team (No. 35 Golfweek-Sagarin/No. 35 Golfstat) is in third place following the first round of play at the rain-shortened Illini Spring Classic after posting a 14-over 302.
Play was suspended during the beginning portion of the second round on Saturday and the event will be shortened to a two-round competition.
The Hoosiers, led by David Mills' 2-over 74, trail Akron (294) and tournament-host Illinois (295). Jeff Kellen of Illinois State and Gareth Blease of Michigan State are the only two players in the field under par with 1-under 71s.
Mills is tied for eighth heading into Sunday, while Brant Peaper posted a 3-over 75 to land in a tie for 15th.
David Erdy finished with a 4-over 76 and is tied for 22nd, while fellow junior Chase Wright is tied for 28th after a 5-over 77.
Corey Ziedonis rounded out the Indiana lineup with a 10-over 82 and is tied for 58th.
