BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana University assistant women's golf coach Katie Brophy has been named the Georgetown University head women's golf coach.
"I am extremely happy for Katie as she will be a wonderful coach for the Hoya golf program," said Indiana head coach Clint Wallman. "She has been a large part of our success over the past five years and I am positive she will have great success with her team at Georgetown. She will be missed and all of us associated with IU Golf wish her the best of luck."
Brophy played an important part in the Hoosiers' success over the last five years, including two NCAA Regional appearances and one trip to the NCAA Championships in 2007. During her tenure, Indiana posted three top-five finishes at the Big Ten Championships and set school records for one, two and three-round scoring averages. Over the last five years the Hoosiers have had five All-Big Ten selections and 21 Academic All-Big Ten honorees.
Brophy came to Indiana in 2006 directly from a standout four-year playing career at Notre Dame. She was a three-time All-BIG EAST selection and was twice named team MVP.
