Carruthers Second, Headed to World Championships

EUGENE, Ore. - The Hoosiers finished up at the USA Track and Field Championships on Sunday. A trio of former IU women's team standouts put up strong showings. Danielle Carruthers is headed to the IAAF World Championships in Daegu, South Korea to compete in the 100m hurdles after taking second. Abbie Norton took fifth in the heptathlon and Molly Beckwith was seventh in the 800 meters.
Carruthers clocked the best time in the semifinals and then took second in the final to punch her ticket to World's. Carruthers finished in 12.59 for second, finishing just .09 behind winner Kellie Wells. She clocked a wind-aided time of 12.37 in the semis.
Norton took fifth in the heptathlon, scoring 5,927 points. She was 131 points out of the win. Norton recorded marks of 6.09m (19-11.75) in the long jump, 40.54m (133-0) in the javelin and 2:18.85 in the 800 meters.
Beckwith clocked a time of 2:00.93 for seventh. Beckwith posted her best ever finish at the meet after getting tripped in 2010.
