BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana head field hockey coach Amy Robertson has announced the addition of Beth Riley to the program's coaching staff. Riley will serve as the Hoosiers' goalkeeper coach. She will also organize team travel and serve as the liaison for academics and athletic training at Indiana.
"We are thrilled to welcome Beth back to the Big Ten Conference and into the IU Hoosier family," said Robertson. "Her outstanding playing career in the goal cage at the University of Michigan makes her an ideal candidate to take our goalkeepers to the top of the Big Ten Conference. In addition to her excellent background as a student-athlete, she has already served for a few years as a first assistant coach at Temple University and has worked with some of the best high school hockey clubs in the nation. She will provide an instant boost on the recruiting front and be able to perform all of the tasks that will be required off the field."
Riley, a native of Palmyra, Pa., comes to Indiana after spending four seasons at Temple University where she was an assistant coach for the Owls. During her time at Temple, the Owls accumulated 41 wins, including a 15-6 mark in 2007, and an 18-9 overall record in Atlantic-10 play.
The 2011 Palmyra High School Sports Hall of Fame inductee also has a long-standing career with USA Field Hockey, serving as an assistant coach in the Futures Program between 2005-07, and currently serving as a regional tournament selector, head coach and site director for the Futures Program and assistant coach for junior high performance. Riley is currently a coach for the Mystx Field Hockey Club.
A 2007 graduate of the University of Michigan, Riley was Second Team All-Big Ten in 2006 and a National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Second Team All-Region selection in 2003 and 2006. She was also a three-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree. Riley was also a three-time Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week and a four-time University of Michigan Scholar-Athlete.
