Volleyball Season Starts at the Hokie Classic

The Hoosiers play High Point (0-0) at 4 p.m. on Friday (Aug. 26) before facing Cleveland State (0-0) at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday and the host Hokies of Virginia Tech (0-0) in a 7 p.m. nightcap.
Live audio broadcasts on IUHoosiers.com will be available for all three matches this weekend, and every contest throughout the entire 2011 season. Cody Sharrett will call the play-by-play.
Indiana meets High Point for the first time ever. High Point is coming off a Big South title and a berth in the NCAA tournament and is led by preseason All-Big South honoree Michelle Chakirelis, a 5-10 middle blocker. Cleveland State trails IU in the all-time series 6-1-1. The last meeting was in 1999, with the Hoosiers winning in four. The Vikings return four starters and a libero and have been to the Horizon League title match in three of the last four seasons. Virginia Tech is another NCAA tournament team that the Hoosiers have never played before. The Hokies are led by Cara Baarendse, who averaged 3.24 kills per set a year ago en route to honorable mention AVCA All-America accolades.

Hoosier fans can get an inside look at the world of IU Volleyball as Mary lugs around her camera all season long. A new episode will air each Monday throughout the season. Last year's "Here's Something From Mary" series totaled more than 7,000 views.
