Heartbreaker in Five For IU

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana Volleyball (1-1) came up just short of a miraculous comeback against Cleveland State on Saturday. The Hoosiers came back fought off four match points to tie the score at 14 in the fifth set before the Vikings took the next two points and the win. The Hoosiers played outstanding defense in the sets they won, recording 13 blocks over five sets. CSU took the win 25-18, 23-25, 25-16, 16-25, 16-14.
True freshman Morgan Leach led the way for the Hoosiers, amassing 10 kills and 9 blocks. Ivie Obeime had 15 kills. Caitlin Cox was just two digs shy of a career high, totaling 25. Colleen Smith, in her collegiate debut, dished out 20 assists.
Outstanding defense provided the Hoosiers the boost to win sets two and four. The Hoosiers had 10 of their 13 blocks and half of their 70 digs in those two sets. Cleveland State was held to .095 hitting percentage in the second and -.075 in the fourth set. The Vikings hit .462 in the first, .419 in the third and .259 in the fifth.
