Soffner Named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana junior goalkeeper Luis Soffner was named the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week, the conference office announced Monday.
Soffner picked up his first shutout of this young season on Saturday as No. 17 Indiana played No. 12 Notre Dame to a 0-0 tie in South Bend. Facing 24 shots in the match, Soffner was forced to make five saves to keep the clean sheet. It is the second career Player of the Week honor for Soffner.
Indiana opens its 2011 home schedule this Friday when it takes on Saint Louis in the adidas/IU Credit Union Classic. The day begins with Notre Dame vs. Dayton at 5 p.m., followed by the Hoosiers and Billikens at 7:30 p.m. Indiana will then face Dayton on Sunday at 2 p.m.
