SETTING THE SCENE
• Indiana opens its 2011 home schedule this weekend with the annual adidas/IU Credit Union Classic.
• The Hoosiers are 0-0-1 on the season after a 0-0 double overtime tie to start the season at No. 12 Notre Dame.
• Indiana is looking for its first adidas/IU Credit Union Classic title since 2005.
• The Hoosiers went 1-1 in the Classic last year with a 2-1 overtime loss to California and a 5-1 win over UCLA.
• Saint Louis is making its ninth appearance in the adidas/IU Credit Union Classic, while this is the first appearance for Dayton.
NEWS AND NOTES
• The Hoosiers opened the season with a 0-0 double overtime tie at Notre Dame on Aug. 27.
• Indiana is now 21-10-7 in season openers.
• It was just the second time in 34 meetings that Notre Dame and IU have played to a tie. It is the first time in series history that neither team scored a goal.
• Goalkeeper Luis Soffner earned his first shutout of the season, recording five saves.
• Notre Dame held a 24-11 advantage in shots, but both teams finished with five shots on-goal each.
• Harrison Petts led Indiana with three shots, while A.J. Corrado had two on-goal attempts.
• Six of Indiana's 11 starters were either freshmen or sophomores.
• Freshman Eriq Zavaleta, sophomore A.J. Corrado, sophomore Jamie Vollmer, and redshirt freshman Kerel Bradford made their IU debuts and earned their first-ever starts.
• Freshman Patrick Doody came in off the bench for his first-ever appearance in the Cream and Crimson.
• Indiana went 0-1-1 in the preseason at the ShindigZ National Soccer Festival.
• The Hoosiers opened on Aug. 19 with a 1-1 tie with preseason No. 23 Duke.
• Sophomore midfielder Harrison Petts scored for the Hoosiers, with the assist going to senior Chris Estridge.
• Against Xavier, junior midfielder Aris Zafeiratos made his IU debut in the starting lineup. Also, Soderlund earned the start in goal for IU, playing 70 minutes before giving way to senior Nate Mitchell. Jack Coleman got his first start in the Cream and Crimson, while junior Joe Tolen made his first appearance of the season.
• Indiana and Xavier finished with an identical 11 shots, with Xavier's goal coming in the 79th minute. The Musketeers had just two shots on goal to the Hoosiers' five. IU also had a 5-4 advantage in corner kicks.
ADIDAS/IU CREDIT UNION CLASSIC HISTORY
• The adidas/IU Credit Union Classic is the nation's premier regular season college soccer tournament. This year's field features No. 17 Indiana, No. 12 Notre Dame, Saint Louis and Dayton.
• Indiana is looking for its 12th adidas/IU Credit Union Classic title since the tournament began in 1983.
• On nine occasions, the NCAA Champion has played in the Classic:

1988 - Indiana
1989 - Virginia
1998 - Indiana
1999 - Indiana

2004 - Indiana
• On 23 occasions, a team in the Classic has played in the College Cup. The most notable of these years in 1984, when Clemson, Indiana, and UCLA all played in both the Classic and the College Cup, with Clemson winning the NCAA title.
• Akron is the most recent Classic team to make the College Cup, earning trips in 2009 and 2010.
• Teams in the Classic have reached the NCAA Tournament on 91 occasions.
• More than 25 players that participated in the Classic have gone on to the Olympics or the World Cup. Below is a sampling:

SCOUTING THE BILLIKENS
• Saint Louis enters the Classic with a record of 0-1 after a 2-1 loss at home to Northern Illinois on Aug. 27.
• Lee Raymond had the lone score for the Billikens. Lee led the team with two shot attempts.
• Saint Louis finished with seven shots total, three of which were on goal.
• Goalkeeper Mark Pais played all 90 minutes, allowing two goals and tallying five saves. The Billikens also had a team save.
• Two players on the SLU roster have ties to the Indiana program. Senior Michael Roach was a Hoosier in 2007 and 2008, while junior Michael Robson's older brother, Kevin, played at Indiana from 2003-06.
• Saint Louis has won the adidas/IU Credit Union Classic in 1990, 1994, 1999 and 2006.
• Head coach Mike McGinty is in his second season at Saint Louis and enters the weekend with a career record of 9-8-3 with the Billikens. He is assisted by Jason O'Keefe, Mark Santel and Franco Carotenuto.

• Indiana is 34-10-4 against teams currently in the Atlantic 10 Conference.
• The Hoosiers are 10-0 vs. Dayton; 18-9-4 vs. Saint Louis; 1-0 vs. Charlotte; 1-1 vs. George Washington; 1-0 vs. UMass; and 3-0 vs. Richmond.
SCOUTING THE FLYERS
• Dayton enters its first adidas/IU Credit Union Classic with a record of 0-1 after a 2-0 loss at Kentucky on Aug. 26.
• The Flyers were out-shot 19-5, with five different players tallying one shot each.
• Alec Storm played all 90 minutes in goal, tallying six saves while allowing two scores. Dayton also had three team saves.
• Greg Enstone, Jack Pearson, Jordan Beckett and Alex Winrich were all issued yellow cards in the match.
• Head coach Dennis Currier is in his seventh season at Dayton and enters the Classic with a record of 63-36-18 with the Flyers. He is assisted by Kiki Lara and Gabe Hall.

• The Hoosiers are a perfect 10-0 against Dayton.
• Not a single current IU or UD player had been born the last time these two programs matched up in 1983.
• Indiana has never allowed a Dayton goal, outscoring the Flyers 56-0 over the 10 meetings.

DID YOU KNOW?
• Seventeen of the 28 players on the roster hail from the state of Indiana.
• Eight of Indiana's regular-season opponents are ranked in the NSCAA preseason top 25, including No. 1 Louisville.
• Indiana will play five of its first seven matches on the road.
• Head coach Todd Yeagley and assistant coaches Brian Maisonneuve, Ernie Yarborough and Chris Munroe all played collegiately at Indiana.
• Yeagley, Maisonneuve and Yarborough were in fact all teammates from 1992-94.
• Senior Tommy Meyer and his father, Keith Meyer, are the first father-son combination to play soccer at Indiana. Meyer played for the Hoosiers in 1980 and 1982-84, winning NCAA titles in 1982 and 1983.
• Freshman Eriq Zavaleta's uncle, Greg Vanney, is currently an assistant coach with MLS' Chivas USA and was an 11-year member of the U.S. Men's National Team. Both his uncle Greg and father, Carlos, played at UCLA and are in the Bruins' Hall of Fame.
• Freshman Jack Coleman led FC Dallas Academy to the U.S. Development Academy championship game this past July and was named to the U.S. Development Academy Starting XI.
• Zavaleta and sophomore A.J. Corrado were both starters on the Columbus Crew Jrs. team that won the USL Super-20 championship this past July. Zavaleta had a goal and Corrado an assist in the title match.
• Indiana was 9-0 in 2010 when scoring two or more goals.
• Head Coach Todd Yeagley's first victory at the helm of the Hoosier program was a big one as the Hoosiers posted a 5-1 victory over No. 5 UCLA on Sept. 5, 2010.
INDIANA IN THE POLLS
• Indiana moved up four spots in this week's Soccer America top 25, coming in at No. 14, but dropped one spot in the NSCAA poll to No. 18.
• The Hoosiers dropped one spot in the College Soccer News top-30, down to No. 16. IU is No. 12 in the week 1 Top Drawer Soccer Tournament 48.
• Indiana remains at No. 6 in the Goal.com top 25 and moved up two spots to No. 11 in MLSSoccer.com top 20.
BRING ON THE TOP 25
• Indiana is 0-0-1 this season against top-25 teams after a 0-0 double overtime tie at No. 12 Notre Dame on Aug. 27.
• In 2010 the Hoosiers were 7-3 against top-25 teams.
• Their victories against ranked opponents came against No. 5 UCLA, No. 22 Drake, No. 20 Penn State, No. 11 Creighton, No. 25 Michigan, No. 16 Michigan State, and No. 23 Tulsa.
• The losses came at the hands of No. 21 Notre Dame, No. 8 Butler and No. 1 Akron.
