TRIESTE, Italy - Shelby Taylor, a 2012 signee for the Indiana University women's water polo team, is currently competing for Team Canada at the FINA World Junior Championships in Italy. Taylor, a native of Calgary, will be joining the Hoosiers in January.
Taylor began the tournament with a hat trick during Canada's 9-7 win against Brazil in the preliminary round on Sunday. Team Canada went on to pick up a 10-7 victory over Germany on Monday.
Canada will round out pool play with a matchup against Spain on Tuesday, followed by tournament play on Sept. 14-17.
Taylor is no stranger to international success. She competed on a number of gold medal winning teams throughout 2008-2010, including such events as the Alberta Open, Valentines Open, and Saskatchewan Open.
Taylor helped lead her team to a 2010 Pan American Championship with the Junior National team, and she also earned a 2010 U18 National Championship while being named Most Valuable Player at that event.
