Hoosiers Geared Up for Tough Test at Olympia Fields

CHICAGO, Ill. -
The Indiana Hoosiers men's golf team makes its second consecutive trip to the state of Illinois for the Olympia Fields/Fighting Illini Invitational this weekend at Olympia Fields Country Club. The event begins on Friday, Sept. 16 with an 18-hole first round, followed by 18 holes on both Saturday and Sunday.

THE VENUE
The tournament is hosted by the University of Illinois and will be played on the Olympia Fields Country Club North Course. The prestigious track is a par-70 and will play 7,205 yards. The course will feature the same tee and hole locations as it did for the 2003 U.S. Open. The North Course has consistently been ranked among America's "Top 100 Greatest Courses" by Golf Digest and is rated No. 62 among all golf courses in the United States.
THE FIELD
The Hoosiers are among a loaded field of 15 teams at Olympia Fields, which includes 10 teams ranked in the Preseason Top-25. Along with Indiana, the field features No. 2 Oklahoma State, No. 3 Alabama, No. 5 Texas, No. 7 Florida, No. 8 Duke, No. 9 Auburn, No. 12 Stanford, No. 13 Illinois, No. 20 Ohio State, No. 22 Augusta State, Arizona State, Florida State, Northwestern, and Notre Dame.
WEEK IN REVIEW
Indiana teed it up for the first time this season last weekend at the Northern Intercollegiate in Sugar Grove, Ill. The Hoosiers rallied in the final round at Rich Harvest Farms for a third place finish in a field of 16 teams. Chase Wright tied for sixth to lead the way after an impressive 3-under 68 in the final round.
