Indiana Field Hockey Tops UC Davis, 4-1

OXFORD, Ohio - The Indiana field hockey team topped UC Davis, 4-1, in a neutral site game in Oxford, Ohio on Thursday, Sept. 15. Freshmen Audra Heilman and Nicole Volgraf scored the Hoosiers four goals.
In the first half, the Hoosiers (5-2) came out aggressive, taking back-to-back shots before Heilman scored her first career goal in the sixth minute as she took a shot to the left side of the goal on a run into the circle.
Early into the second half, Volgraf scored her second career goal at IU in the 37th minute from point blank range to give the Hoosiers a 2-0 lead. In the 44th minute, Heilman netted her second goal of the game as she scored off a rebound on a save to give Indiana a 3-0 lead.
UC Davis (2-3) got on the board in the 64th minute as Marissa Hughes scored to cut into Indiana's lead, 3-1. However, Volgraf found her way to the cage for a second time as she took a breakaway pass from Morgan Fleetwood to increase the Hoosiers' advantage to 4-1, in the 67th minute.
Heilman tallied three shots on goal with two goals and Volgraf recorded two shots on goal with two goals off the bench. Fleetwood took a team-high nine shots, five on goal, and assisted on the final goal of the game for IU. Katie Griswold took four shots, three on goal, and Brenna Moeljadi took two shots on goal.
Maggie Olson started in the cage and picked up four saves in 70:00 minutes.
The Hoosiers outshot the Aggies, 29-17, but UC Davis earned six penalty corners to IU's four.
Indiana returns to action on Sunday, Sept. 18, when it travels to Athens, Ohio to take on No. 15 Ohio at 12 p.m. ET.
