CHICAGO, Ill. - The Indiana Hoosiers men's golf team posted a 12th place finish at the Olympia Fields/Fighting Illini Invitational on Sunday with a three-round total of 892.
The Hoosiers wrapped up play with a final round score of 25-over 305 to register the 12th place showing among a 15-team field that included 10 ranked teams. Stanford won the tournament with a 9-over 849, followed by Auburn (865), Oklahoma State (865), Alabama (867), and Texas (873) to round out the top-five.
Senior Chase Wright was the top Hoosier finisher, landing in a tie for 25th after a final round 6-over 76 (71-73-76---220). The performance marks Wright's 18th top-25 finish of his career.
Sophomore David Mills fired the low final round score among Indiana players, posting a 3-over 73 to finish at 13-over 223 (75-75-73) for the tournament and in a tie for 36th.
Senior David Erdy finished in a tie for 41st after a 6-over 76. Erdy ended the event with a total of 14-over 224 (71-77-76).
The junior duo of Brant Peaper and Corey Ziedonis each recorded 10-over 80s in the final round. Ziedonis (71-75-80---226) finished in a tie for 53rd and Peaper (78-76-80---234) placed in a tie for 71st.
The Hoosiers will be back in action on Oct. 10-11 where they will defend the team title at The Firestone Invitational in Akron, Ohio. Erdy was also co-medalist of that event in 2010.
