BLOOMINGTON, IND. - The Indiana Cross Country teams will travel to Stillwater, Okla., to participate in the Cowboy Jamboree hosted by Oklahoma State University. The event is one of the largest non-championship cross country meets in the country and has been held at OSU since 1934, making it the oldest cross country race in America.
The men's race will be an 8K while the women will run a 6K on Saturday. Events begin with the women's JUCO/College race at 8 a.m. CT followed by the men's JUCO/College race at 8:35 a.m. CT. The University women's race will get started at 9:15 a.m. CT with the University men's race at 9:45 a.m. CT.
Some of the best programs in the country will be in Stillwater on Saturday competing, including the host men's team. Oklahoma State is the reigning back-to-back NCAA men's cross country champions and are currently ranked No. 1 in the country. As many as 6,000 runners will embark on the OSU cross country course this weekend.
IUXC MEN EARN HIGHEST RANKING IN SCHOOL HISTORY
The USTFCCCA unveiled its weekly NCAA Cross Country Coaches Poll on Tuesday, Sept. 27. The Indiana men's team found itself in a position it had never been in before. With the No. 6 ranking in the country, it marks the highest ever spot for a Indiana cross country team to be ranked in school history.
The men's team is coming off a 2010 campaign where it finished seventh at the NCAA Championships, the best finish for Hoosiers in 33 years, and each runner that participated at last year's NCAAs are on the 2011 cross country roster.
