Carruthers Strikes Silver in Daegu

DAEGU, South Korea - IU legend Danielle Carruthers ran a lifetime best 12.47 seconds for the silver medal in the 100m hurdles at the IAAF World Championships, becoming the first world championships medalist with IU ties since Rachelle Boone-Smith took second at the 2005 world meet. Carruthers outleaned fellow Team USA member Dawn Harper by less than .01 seconds.
Carruthers is a two-time U.S. champion in the hurdles. At Indiana, she was a three-time All-American and an NCAA runner-up. She won seven Big Ten titles and was named Big Ten Athlete of the Year twice.
