Field Hockey Bests Missouri State, 4-1

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana field hockey claimed its fourth straight win with two goals from Brenna Moeljadi and Morgan Fleetwood, apiece, for a 4-1 win over Missouri State on Sunday, Sept. 4 in Bloomington. Moeljadi was just as effective on the other end of the field, recording her eighth career defensive save to set a new IU record.
The Hoosiers (4-0) got on the board in the fifth minute as Fleetwood converted a penalty corner for her fifth goal of the season. Katie Griswold recorded the first of her four assists on the day as IU took a 1-0 lead. The offense on both sides slowed down a bit for the rest of the first half as both teams went into the break with Indiana leading 1-0.
IU came out more aggressive in the second half, drawing a corner in the first two minutes and converting with a goal from Moeljadi. Griswold picked up the assist. The Hoosiers kept on Missouri State (1-2) earning another corner and converting as Fleetwood scored her sixth goal of the year with Griswold getting another assist to give Indiana a 3-0 lead in the 42nd minute.
The Hoosiers got their fourth goal of the game in the 57th minute as Moeljadi converted another corner and picked up her fourth goal of the season. Griswold and Brooke Borneman earned the assists.
Missouri State did get on the board in the 64th minute as Sarah Bradley dribbled around IU defenders and shot the ball into the left corner of the cage to cut the Hoosiers' lead to three, 4-1. However, IU held on to that lead en route to the win.
Moeljadi ended up with five shots on goal for her two goals and also recorded a defensive save to set a new Indiana career record with eight. Fleetwood took four shots on goal for her two goals. Griswold took four shots on goal and recorded four assists, while Borneman recorded one assist.
Maggie Olson started in goal and picked up the win with a clean first half. Viki Green played in goal in the second half and recorded one save, while giving up one goal.
Indiana outshot Missouri State, 24-5, and tallied 13 corners to the Bears' three.
The Hoosiers return to action on Friday, Sept. 9 when they travel to Stanford for a 7 p.m. ET game in Palo Alto. IU continues its West Coast trip with a visit to California in Berkeley on Sunday, Sept. 11 at 3 p.m. ET.
