Erdy Ties for Eighth at New Year's Invitational

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - Senior David Erdy tied for eighth and was the top Hoosier finisher over the weekend in the 86th New Year's Invitational at St. Petersburg Country Club. Erdy was among seven members of the Indiana men's golf team that competed in the 108-man field on Jan. 5-8.
Erdy finished the four-round event with a 6-under 282 (73-70-71-68), four shots off the leader, Garland Green. The Boonville, Ind. native's 4-under 68 on Sunday was the second lowest final round score in the event.
Fellow senior Chase Wright followed up his strong showing at the Patriot All-American with an even par 288 (75-69-73-71) to place in a tie for 18th.
Junior John Beringer finished tied for 60th with a 305 (80-72-82-71), while sophomore David Mills was one shot back at 306 (77-77-79-73).
Other Hoosiers in the tournament were freshman Andrew Fogg (86-73-79-77---315), junior Kyle Perry (85-77-77-77---316), and freshman Nicholas Grubnich (79-85-87-82---333).
