Hoosiers Earn Seventh Seed At Big Ten Tourney

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana field hockey team (9-8, 0-6) will be the seventh seed in the 2012 Big Ten Tournament and will face second-seeded Northwestern (16-3, 4-2) on Thursday, Nov. 1 at approximately 1:30 p.m. ET at the University of Iowa in Iowa City, Iowa.
The Hoosiers and the Wildcats last faced each other on Oct. 12 in Evanston, Ill. where Northwestern took a 4-0 win. NU leads the all-time series, 7-8, but Indiana has taken the past seven-of-10 meetings. The last time the Hoosiers played Northwestern in Big Ten Tournament action dates back to Nov. 5, 2009. IU won that contest by a score of 4-2 and had goals from Morgan Fleetwood, Brooke Borneman and Brenna Moeljadi.
Head coach Amy Robertson and IU head to Iowa this week owning an all-time record of 4-12 in the Big Ten Tournament play and have advanced to the championship game in both the 2005 and 2009 campaigns. IU is 2-0 vs. the Wildcats in postseason play.
The winner of Thursday's contest will advance to play the winner of No. 3-seeded Michigan and No. 6 seeded Ohio State at 4 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 2.
