BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana women's tennis team was honored yet again for earning the Herbert Cup for the 2012 spring semester. The Herbert Cup is given each semester to the Hoosier athletic program with highest GPA for that semester. The team was publicly recognized at IU's football game against Michigan State on Oct. 6.
The IU women's tennis program has won the cup in nine of the ten semesters in which the award has been given, including the last three semesters consecutively. For the spring semester only, the team finished with an impressive collective GPA of 3.64.
"The team is very excited to once again win the Herbert Cup," head coach Lin Loring said. "I am especially pleased because half of the team were freshmen last year and their work in the classroom gave their college academic career a great start."
