Hoosier Invitational in the Books for IU Cross Country

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana cross country hosted its annual Hoosier Invitational on Friday afternoon at the IU Championship Cross Country Course. The meet gave IU runners who won't be competing at the NCAA Regional a chance to run on the course one last time in 2012.
The top finisher in the women's 5K race and running unattached was Samantha Ginther in a time of 17:44. Also running unattached, Sara Brown placed third in 19:08. IU's Ashley Seymour crossed the line in sixth position in 19:17, followed by Samantha Gwin in 19:32 (10th).
In the men's 8K, Owen Skeete was the first IU runner to finish in third place in a time of 25:01. Behind him and running unattached were Jason Crist in fourth (25:03) and Carl Smith in fifth (25:11). Hoosiers rounding out the top 10 were Josh Roche (sixth, 25:27), Nolan Fife (seventh, 25:40) and Joe Holahan (ninth, 25:51). Finishing in 10th and unattached was Tyeson Mundy in 25:55.
The Indiana men's and women's cross country teams will next compete at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional on Friday, Nov. 9. That event will take place in Madison, Wis.
