Bloomington, Ind. - The Indiana softball team welcomed back some familiar faces recently, as the Hoosiers had several alumni return to Bloomington to meet with current players and tour the new IU Softball Stadium construction site.
Head Coach Michelle Gardner was not only excited, but also very grateful that former players were able to return to campus and meet the current squad.
"We had a really great group back," said Gardner. "We're trying to cultivate a relationship with previous alumni, and this was an amazing opportunity for our student-athletes to talk with our former players about their time here at IU.
"I am so grateful for not only their years that they put in here as student-athletes to build this program into what it is today, but also for taking the time to come back and spend time with both current players and former teammates."
In addition to welcoming back former players, one of softball's own, Michelle Venturella, was recognized and inducted into the IU Athletics Hall of Fame.
"This is a great honor in itself, and I think this speaks a lot about the program and to Michelle and her amazing career," said Gardner. "It is a pretty select group that gets inducted into the Hall of Fame, and I am thankful she was able to be such a tremendous part of that weekend with the alumni."
