BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Super Bowl XLVI recently staged in Indianapolis had the Indiana University Cheerleading Program involved in a community outreach program during Super Bowl Week.
Some 16 IU Cheerleaders from the two squads assisted with SuperProCamp's "Camp Katina" at a northwest Indianapolis fitness center with campers from the Indianapolis Boys and Girls Clubs and the Starkey Hearing Foundation from Indianapolis. Indianapolis Colts defensive star Dwight Freeney and Country Music legend Garth Brooks hosted the camp under the direction of camp director Katina Taylor, vice president and co-founder of the Jason Taylor Foundation. The event was full of fun, learning and meeting wonderful youth from the greater Indianapolis area.
"Camp Katina was a very gratifying and fun experience not only for me but some truly wonderful kids," said IU sophomore Jimmy Krause, a second-year member from Knox, Ind. Added fourth-year Crimson cheerleader Hannah Cox from Scottsburg, "It was a rewarding experience to be able to make well deserving kids happy just by having fun with them."
