PARRISH, Fla. - In its first tune-up of the spring season, the Indiana women's golf team dropped a match to the Wisconsin Badgers, 10.5-7.5 at the River Wilderness Country Club in Parrish, Fla.
The teams played a Nassau, where one point is awarded on the front nine, one on the back nine and one for overall low score in each pairing. Junior Pamela Burneski led the way for Indiana, winning all three points in her matchup.
Junior Rosie Davies was the next high scorer for the Hoosiers, earning 1.5 points. Freshman Elizabeth Tong, senior Kristtini Cain and sophomore Sophie Hayashi earned one point each.
"I was impressed with our control on the greens," said head coach Clint Wallman. "We were much improved and that is something we had been working on. We would have loved to have picked up a win, but this was great preparation for our next event and we are excited and feeling good."
The Hoosiers will be back in action on the same course, Feb. 20-21 at the Central District Invitational, hosted by Michigan State. The field features Coastal Carolina, Indiana, Iowa State, Kent State, No. 6 LSU, Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota, No. 7 North Carolina, Northwestern, No. 21 Ohio State, Oklahoma, TCU, UCF and No. 5 Vanderbilt. The teams will shoot 36 holes on Monday and 18 on Tuesday.
