Fournier Named Western Division Co-Player of the Week

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Sophomore Shae Fournier has been named the CWPA Western Division Co-Player of the Week after leading the No. 11 Indiana Hoosiers (11-4, 1-1 CWPA West) to three wins during a four-game slate in Troy, N.Y., the conference office announced on Tuesday.
The honor marks the third of the season for Fournier after nabbing a conference record 10 weekly awards during her freshman season. She shares this week's award with Maryland's Allison Campbell.
Fournier led the Cream and Crimson with 13 goals over the weekend, to go along with seven assists, 13 steals, 11 field blocks, and eight earned exclusions.
The Winnipeg, Manitoba native began the trip with a stellar defensive performance in a 13-7 win over No. 16 Hartwick, recording four steals and four field blocks, along with a goal, three assists, and four earned kickouts. She followed that with a career-high five goals in a 12-11 triumph over Brown, while also registering two assists, four steals, two field blocks, and one earned five-meter penalty.
Against Marist, Fournier became the 17th Hoosier to eclipse the 100 career goal plateau, notching a hat trick in the 9-3 Indiana victory. She also had team-highs of five steals and three field blocks, to go along with an assist and two earned exclusions.
Fournier rounded out the weekend with four goals, two field blocks, and an assist in a 9-8 loss to No. 14 Maryland, marking her sixth game of the season with at least four goals.
For the season, Fournier has team-highs of 43 goals, 41 steals, and 47 field blocks, to go along with 17 assists and 20 earned exclusions.
